SmartHoldem Post-Quantum Block Explorer | Web 4.0 Transparency

SmartHoldem Post-Quantum Block Explorer | Web 4.0 Transparency

SmartHoldem Post-Quantum Block Explorer: A Complete Reimagining of Blockchain Transparency

When SmartHoldem transitioned to its post-quantum network built on Rust and Sled, we faced a critical decision: patch the old block explorer or build something entirely new. We chose the latter and created more than just a block browser. We built a comprehensive window into the Web 4.0 future.

Why "New" Was the Only Option

The move to post-quantum nodes was a paradigm shift, not merely an upgrade. Our network now handles entirely new on-chain entities:

The move to post-quantum nodes was a paradigm shift, not merely an upgrade. Our network now handles entirely new on-chain entities:

  1. Quantum Shield protecting wallets with ML-DSA-44 signatures
  2. BFT finality providing deterministic 8-second confirmation
  3. SmartObjects enabling decentralized registries
  4. Native Web4 tokens with built-in markets
  5. Netfory metrics tracking the Web 4.0 ecosystem

The legacy explorer could not display these features. Patching it would have been like putting a bicycle engine in a spaceship. So we built the spaceship.

Designed for Humans, Engineered for Speed

Premium Minimalism

The new explorer features a glass-panel aesthetic with clean typography, monospaced hashes for readability, and color-coded status pills instead of boring text labels. Dark theme is default (because we're all night owls), and light theme is one click away.

Real-Time

Data updates instantly without page reloads. Values already on screen never reset. This behavior is essential for delegates monitoring rounds and developers debugging transactions, and it delivers a noticeably better user experience.

Responsive Everywhere

Tables fit laptop screens. Hash links shorten automatically without losing readability. Every value can be copied to clipboard with one click. And yes, it works perfectly on your phone.

Dashboard: Network at a Glance

  • Block height, latency, node count, PQ core version
  • Quantum Shield status (stage, algorithm, protected wallets)
  • 7/14/30-day activity charts built from a single node request
  • Live tabs: Favourites, Latest Transactions, Latest Blocks
  • Wallets: Top Wallets - Richest addresses on the network by STH balance

⭐ Favourites (Watch List)

Pin any wallet or delegate with a star. They appear on your dashboard with live balance, Quantum Shield status, rank, forging status, and last block. The list is stored locally in your browser, separately for Mainnet and Testnet.

🔍 Omnisearch: One Field to Rule Them All

Type anything: transaction ID, block height, hash, address, public key, delegate name, token ticker, or SmartObject name. The explorer understands the input and opens the right page immediately. No more "which tab was that in?"

📦 Transactions: Every Type, Fully Rendered

The filter covers every transaction type grouped by family:

  • Core: transfer, second signature, delegate registration/resignation, vote, multisignature, NTFRY, multi-payment, HTLC lock/claim/refund
  • Tokens (SHIP-14/15): init, transfer, mint, burn, meta
  • SmartObjects: registration, updates, sales, purchases
  • Quantum Shield: transactions with hybrid signatures

Each non-finalized transaction shows a confirmation progress ring up to a full round.

The transaction page renders the asset of any type in a structured way, including SmartObject actions, multi-payment payouts to 256 recipients, and HTLC parameters.

👥 Delegates: Finally, Accurate Missed Blocks

Most explorers get this wrong, often unintentionally. They flag delegates in red based on "long gaps" between blocks. Our explorer counts misses exactly the way the core does: a miss is an empty slot, and the culprit is derived from the round's forging order (/rounds/:round/delegates plus the core shuffle).

The Round Schedule block shows:

  • Current round order
  • Who is forging now (with countdown)
  • Who is next
  • What has been forged
  • What was missed (with precise slot numbers)

During network stalls, it shows an outage banner and collapses runs of missed slots without overloading the UI. The delegate page works as a monitor with reliability percentage, a window of recent rounds, and precise marks for missed slots.

📊 Tokens & Market

Token list with logos, supply/cap, decimals, holders, and history. The Market section shows open sell orders and a catalog of all registered SmartObjects: filter by type (tickers, delegates, application objects), search by name, price, or owner. The object page includes the token registry for tickers, the Netfory pointer, and an activity timeline.

Under the Hood: Performance & Resilience

Speed

  • Local cache (IndexedDB) delivers an instant first screen
  • New data appends on top of the cache without resets
  • Heavy aggregates come from the node in a single request

Resilience

  • Concurrency limits prevent overwhelming nodes
  • Automatic retries on 502/503 errors
  • Correct behavior when part of the nodes are down
  • Bounded memory usage even under load

Completeness

All PQ core transaction types, Quantum Shield, finality, HTLC, tokens, SmartObjects, and the market appear in one interface. No need to jump between tools.

Install as an App (PWA)

The explorer is now a Progressive Web App:

  • "Install" prompt on phones and desktops
  • Home-screen icon
  • Offline-ready shell with cached fonts and assets
  • Pull to refresh on any list, like a native app
  • Scroll-to-top button on long mobile pages

Supply, Burned, Circulating: As They Are On-Chain

The network status line reads directly from the chain:

  • Supply: 249,770,000 STH (fixed total from genesis block #1)
  • Burned: balance of the burn address, rounded up so a partially burned coin is never hidden
  • Circulating: 249 668 999 STH - Supply minus Burned, the figure that actually matters

Why This Matters

The explorer is the first thing a newcomer opens and the tool a delegate or developer keeps open all day. This update makes it answer the questions people actually ask:

  • What is STH worth?
  • What did this transfer cost in USD?
  • How much is really in circulation?
  • Is my transaction finalized?
  • Which delegate missed that slot?

All in their own language, on their own device, without leaving the network's own infrastructure.

Both have independent caches and favourites.

About SmartHoldem

SmartHoldem is a Delegated Proof-of-Stake blockchain with post-quantum signatures (ML-DSA-44), 8-second blocks, BFT finality, SmartObjects, and a native Web4 token standard. The core is written in Rust with Sled storage. The project is open-source.
