SmartHoldem Strategic Pivot: From Dual-Chain to a Quantum-Resistant Decentralized Data Center

Why we consolidated our power into the high-speed DPoS blockchain and abandoned the Chia fork to build a truly free, scalable, and secure P2P Internet.

The Power of Focus

In blockchain development, complexity is the enemy of security. Earlier, our roadmap included an ambitious plan to merge two distinct consensus mechanisms: our native, high-speed DPoS (Delegated Proof-of-Stake) and a secondary PoSt (Proof-of-Space-and-Time) network based on a Chia fork. The idea was to offer "Double Farming" - forging in DPoS and farming on HDDs.

However, after a thorough technical audit and strategic review, we made a decisive choice. We realized that splitting resources between two chains would dilute our security, complicate the implementation of quantum resistance, and create unnecessary inflationary pressure.

Today, we announce a major strategic shift: SmartHoldem is canceling the Chia fork. Instead, we are focusing 100% of our engineering power on upgrading our existing, robust DPoS blockchain to serve as the backbone of a global, decentralized data center.

We are not building a new chain. We are supercharging the one that already works.

1. Why We Left the Chia Fork Behind

The original plan had a logical flaw in the context of long-term sustainability:

  • Inflation vs. Deflation: The PoSt fork would have required its own tokenomics or complex bridging, potentially introducing inflationary pressures. In contrast, our main DPoS network has completely stopped emissions. No new STH coins are being created. This makes STH a scarce, deflationary asset.
     
  • The Quantum Threat: Implementing post-quantum cryptography is a massive engineering challenge. Doing it for two separate blockchains would double the risk and delay security updates. By focusing on a single DPoS chain, we can deploy our Quantum Shield more quickly and effectively.
     
  • Useless Storage vs. Useful Data: Chia’s model relies on storing "digital waste" (plots). We believe storage should be useful. By pivoting to a P2P data layer atop DPoS, we turn idle HDDs into a Decentralized Data Center that hosts real apps, mail, and code.

2. The New Architecture: DPoS + P2P Data Layer

SmartHoldem is now evolving into a hybrid powerhouse:

  • Layer 1: The DPoS Core. A proven, high-speed, zero-emission blockchain. It handles transactions and identity with millisecond finality. It is already live, stable, and ready for mass adoption.
  • Layer 2: The SmartNet P2P Grid. A decentralized storage and communication network built on Rust, Hyperswarm, and Noise Protocol. This layer handles heavy data (files, streams, databases) without clogging the main blockchain.

How it works together:

You don’t farm "noise." You host useful data (encrypted clouds, dApps, private mail). The proof of this storage is anchored to the main DPoS chain. Rewards are paid in STH - the only token in the ecosystem. Since no new STH is emitted, these rewards come from transaction fees and service usage, creating a sustainable, deflationary economy.

3. Quantum Resistance: One Shield, Total Protection

Security is our priority. By consolidating into a single DPoS chain, we are accelerating the development of our Quantum-Resistant Cryptography.
