Trust & Safety
Reputation Over Censorship: How Netfory Ensures Safety Without Central Control
In Real Web4, safety doesn’t come from bans. It comes from reputation and user choice.
The Open Network Dilemma
Any open Peer-to-Peer network faces the same hard choice: total openness creates space for scams and phishing. Centralized moderation destroys decentralization and creates a single point of control.
SmartNet Web4 protocols solve this differently. We don’t ban. We use decentralized reputation.
A simple two-tier catalog system (Official | All) protects everyday users by default, while leaving the network completely free for those who want full access. We mark, we don’t censor.
Choice, Not Prohibition
Level 1: Official (The Default Safe Zone)
Ordinary users in USER mode see only verified dApps. An app is Official if:
- Signed by a Trusted Developer: The manifest includes an
owneraddress in the community-vettedDEVELOPERSregistry. Cryptographic signatures make affiliation impossible to fake. - Approved by Governance: Specific app IDs can be added to
OFFICIAL_DAPPSvia public blockchain transaction.
This is a mathematically verifiable reputation badge, not a corporate ban list.
Level 2: All (Conscious Choice)
Advanced users in DEV/GEEK modes can toggle “Show Unverified” with a clear warning. The network hides nothing from those who understand the risks.

Direct Links Always Work
This is a core principle of SmartNet Web 4.0 protocols: We mark. We never censor. Direct links using sn:// or sth:// protocols are never blocked — under any circumstances. If you receive a link from a peer, it opens regardless of official lists.
Filters apply ONLY to storefront discovery, never to the underlying transport layer. The network itself remains fully open.
Decentralized Safety Mechanics
Content Never Deleted
Trackers index ALL apps. “Official” is just a visibility metadata tag.
No Central Server
Trust registries live on the SmartHoldem Blockchain. Immutable and public.
Client-Side Sovereignty
Filtering happens locally on your device. Forking the client, switching to GEEK mode, or using a direct link bypasses all filters. The network cannot force a filter onto your node.
Cryptographic Verification
Badges are verified via signed manifests (id ↔ pubkey + owner). You verify the signature yourself.
Unlike traditional app stores, there are no hidden algorithms or backdoors.

Safety Even Without Internet Access
For users in hostile networks or offline segments, SmartNet uses Cloud Seeders. Trusted developers replicate encrypted state files (vdapps.enc) containing current trust lists every 30 minutes.
Peers only accept these lists if the issuer is already in their known DEVELOPERS set. This creates a transitive chain of trust anchored in the initial configuration. Man-in-the-middle attacks are impossible because unknown issuers are automatically ignored.
Fallback Trust
Verified even offline
Web4 Safety for a Free Internet
Reputation instead of censorship. Signatures instead of promises. Choice instead of prohibition.
Everyday users are protected by default. Advanced users keep full visibility.
And no one in the world has a button that can delete an application from the network.
